January and February updates

In january we had a finished the troop work on the communications merit badge. Now it is up to the boys to finish the homework and get the merit badge councilor to sign them off.

We had a camp out at the Morse cabin. The boys had fun and learned an important lesson about planning their menu. Consider condiments and quantities. We had one slice of bacon each and pancakes with no butter or syrup for breakfast.

In february we had a scout sunday presentation at church. Each of the boys helped us explain the goals and values of scouting to the church. We also went camping at the Kepners property in Dorr. We slept out side in 10 degree weather. Dylan learned a lesson about preparing properly. We sent him home for the night because he was not prepared for the cold. He joined us again the next day and he was prepared.

In march we plan to start the family life merit badge, and we will cover safe swim and safety afloat to prepare for our canoe trip this summer.
